The Volga automobile production facility in Nizhny Novgorod has transitioned from semi-knocked-down assembly to a full-cycle manufacturing process. The plant now handles body welding, painting, and final assembly, with approximately 80% of key operations fully automated.
The factory utilizes production lines previously used for Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles until 2022. Serial production of the Volga began in April 2026, initially relying on imported components based on Geely models. Currently, the company has integrated Russian-made glass, exhaust systems, batteries, wheels, tires, and telematics modules.
The localization roadmap continues with plans to produce plastic interior components by the end of 2026. In 2027, the facility intends to begin stamping body panels, followed by the launch of engine and transmission production in 2028. Long-term goals include developing a proprietary vehicle platform and new model generations.
