Visa is integrating its payment network data with blockchain-based lending tools to assist fintechs and stablecoin-linked card programs in securing working capital. By combining VisaNet settlement records with onchain transaction data, lenders can evaluate business performance and set financing terms more efficiently.
The company reported that its stablecoin settlement volume has surpassed an annualized rate of $20 billion. This growth is supported by over 160 active stablecoin-linked card programs, which saw payment volume increase by nearly 200% year over year. Visa notes that onchain lending protocols have processed over $694 billion in loans since 2020.
A pilot financing model involving Credit Coop has already supported more than $2.5 billion in cumulative settlement volume since 2023 with zero defaults. This system uses smart contracts to automate funding, collateral management, and repayment processes, drawing on settlement receivables to secure the loans.
Visa continues to expand its stablecoin infrastructure, which now includes support for nine blockchains following the addition of five networks in April. The company previously launched a stablecoin platform for banks and fintechs in July, aiming to modernize payment infrastructure and improve transparency in credit markets.
