VinBus, a subsidiary of Vingroup, has launched a fleet of 50 electric school buses in Quang Ninh City. The service, which began on September 5, 2026, provides free transportation for approximately 2,000 students across 22 educational institutions. The buses currently operate on six routes throughout the Ha Long, Hong Gai, and Ha Tu wards, running primarily on weekdays with limited Saturday service.

The initiative is currently a pilot program, with the city government planning to expand the service to additional areas in the upcoming school year based on performance results. This project marks the first implementation of a free electric school bus service in Vietnam.

The fleet utilizes the VinFast EB 6 model, specifically the urban version. This vehicle measures 6.2 meters in length, 2.2 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height. The bus is configured to carry 19 seated passengers plus the driver. It features a rear-mounted motor with 140 kW of power and 420 Nm of torque.

The EB 6 is equipped with a 179.5 kWh LFP battery pack. It supports charging speeds of up to 120 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 20 to 80 percent in 70 minutes. The vehicle reaches a top speed of 90 km/h and offers a range of up to 340 kilometers on a single charge.
