Verbatim has launched a new line of AA, AAA, and 9V rechargeable batteries in Europe. Unlike traditional NiMH cells, these products utilize lithium-ion technology integrated with electronic voltage converters to mimic the performance of standard disposable batteries.
The AA and AAA models provide a constant output of 1.5V, while the 9V version maintains 9V. The energy capacities are rated at 3.15Wh for AA, 0.75Wh for AAA, and approximately 3Wh for the 9V variant. Each unit features a built-in USB-C port for direct charging without external hardware.
The company specifies a lifespan of up to 1,000 charge cycles, though capacity retention varies. Documentation indicates that batteries maintain 80% capacity after at least 300 cycles, dropping to 10–20% by the 1,000-cycle mark. Users should note that the constant voltage output may prevent some electronic devices from accurately detecting remaining battery life.
Due to a self-discharge rate, the manufacturer advises against storing the batteries for longer than 60 days without recharging. Pricing in the European market is set at €13 for a four-pack of AA or AAA batteries, while the 9V unit is priced at €8 per piece.
