The open-source bootable drive creation tool Ventoy has been updated to version 1.1.18. This release introduces experimental support for SteamOS recovery images, allowing users to boot these images directly from a Ventoy USB drive. This feature is intended for users who need to repair, restore, or redeploy SteamOS devices.
For Linux users, the update improves the mounting experience. The software now uses a remount function to directly access partitions containing ISO files on major Linux distributions. The ISO partition device name is now fixed as /dev/mapper/VentoyPart to ensure stable recognition by the system.
The new version also addresses several technical issues, including the removal of duplicate disk icons in Linux file manager sidebars and enabling ISO partition mounting during Clonezilla runtime. Compatibility for Fedora 45 Beta and Grml 2026.09 has been restored, and intermittent data persistence failures in Ubuntu Desktop Live sessions are resolved.
Windows and WinPE users benefit from a fix for Secure Boot version check failures. Additionally, the update adds support for custom ISO images based on Syslinux and improves compatibility with the latest version of LinuxConsole.
