The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) attracted approximately $13 billion in a single week. This performance follows a trend that established the fund as a leader in the US ETF market, with assets under management surpassing $1 trillion in June 2026.

Year-to-date inflows for VOO through mid-2026 are estimated between $75 billion and $110 billion. In late August, the fund recorded inflows of about $11.4 billion over five days, while daily inflows in early September ranged from $2.99 billion to $3.28 billion.

The fund maintains an expense ratio of 0.03%, costing investors $3 annually per $10,000 invested. In contrast, the State Street SPY ETF charges 0.09%. During the same period, SPY and BlackRock’s IVV saw combined outflows of nearly $20 billion.

Vanguard attributes its ability to maintain low margins to its mutual ownership structure. While competitors like SPY retain an advantage in the options market due to liquidity, VOO continues to capture significant capital from buy-and-hold investors.
