Valve has released a new update for the SteamOS Beta and Preview channels. The primary focus of this release is to resolve a specific issue where fan speeds would incorrectly revert to BIOS control until the device was restarted, leading to higher-than-normal fan noise.
Users can access these experimental builds by navigating to the System settings and selecting the appropriate update channel. This update follows the recent launch of SteamOS 3.9.0, which introduced significant changes including an upgrade to the Linux 7.2 kernel and a transition to a new Arch Linux package base.
The 3.9.0 preview also added initial support for sleep functionality and updated the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Additionally, the release included improvements to wireless network compatibility, continuing Valve's ongoing efforts to refine the software experience for its hardware platform.
