Valve has released the first SteamOS update, version 0.3.0, for the Steam Frame headset. The update, which became available on September 18, introduces several system-wide improvements and performance optimizations.

The primary hardware improvement is an increased charging speed, which is now available when the device is powered off or in sleep mode. Additionally, the update addresses controller tracking issues when haptic feedback is enabled and resolves microphone noise problems.

System stability under high load has been enhanced. Valve also updated the motion smoothing feature for Half-Life: Alyx and added an option to dim the game screen when the dashboard is visible. The automatic display of boundaries in the play area interface has been disabled.

For developers, version 0.3.0 adjusts performance benchmarks and enables game execution at resolutions below 1440p. The update also includes compatibility fixes for the operating system, Mesa, and Vulkan.
