Uztelecom and its subsidiary, UZ-SAT, have signed an agreement with Amazon Leo to act as an authorized distributor of the satellite system in Uzbekistan. The partnership aims to provide high-speed internet access in remote and hard-to-reach areas where traditional terrestrial infrastructure is difficult or inefficient to deploy.
Amazon Leo is a low-Earth orbit satellite network designed to supplement existing terrestrial telecommunications. For residents, this technology will improve access to digital government services, remote education, and telemedicine. Businesses will be able to connect production and infrastructure facilities located in isolated regions.
Uztelecom currently covers 96% of populated areas in Uzbekistan and operates 378,800 kilometers of fiber-optic lines. The integration of satellite solutions is intended to bridge the remaining connectivity gaps and support the development of the country's unified digital space.
Under the agreement, UZ-SAT will develop and provide communication solutions for customers across the country using Amazon Leo's network capabilities. The project combines Amazon's satellite technology with local expertise to foster economic growth and digital inclusion.
