A recent survey conducted by the DeFi Education Fund and Ipsos reveals that 72% of American voters consider it important for political candidates to support domestic financial technology development. The poll, which included 1 545 participants, found that 35% of respondents view this support as very or extremely important, while 37% labeled it as somewhat important.

Despite the interest in fintech policy, public familiarity with specific digital assets remains low. Only 9% of those surveyed reported being familiar with cryptocurrency, and 5% with stablecoins. Furthermore, 87% of participants stated they had not held any digital assets over the past 12 months, and only 13% prioritized candidate support for blockchain, crypto, and DeFi growth.

The findings arrive ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, where digital asset policy is expected to be a relevant factor for voters. Political action committees supported by crypto companies have already invested tens of millions of dollars into various campaigns to influence the electoral process and shape future legislative outcomes regarding financial technology.
