US equity futures rose following a decline in oil prices and expectations regarding the upcoming summit between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. Nasdaq-100 futures increased by approximately 1.1%, while Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 futures climbed by 0.6–0.8% and 0.6–0.7% respectively.

West Texas Intermediate crude dropped over 3% to around $97 per barrel, and Brent crude fell by 2–3% to near $101 per barrel. The oil price decline is linked to potential diplomatic progress in the Middle East, specifically discussions between Donald Trump and Iranian leaders at the UN General Assembly.

The summit in Washington is scheduled for September 24, marking the first visit of Xi Jinping to the White House in about a decade. Preparatory talks between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng occurred on September 20.

The primary agenda includes extending a trade truce set to expire in November 2026, alongside discussions on artificial intelligence regulations. Despite the market rally, Treasury yields remain near 5%, which continues to influence capital allocation between stocks and bonds.
