The CLARITY Act, officially known as the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, is designed to define the regulatory framework for digital assets in the US. Its primary goal is to separate the oversight authority between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Senator Cynthia Lummis warned that if Congress fails to pass the bill this year, the US could face prolonged regulatory ambiguity for digital assets, potentially extending until 2030.
The bill's progression depends on the actions of Congress before the end of the year. Key figures such as President Donald Trump and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott are expected to play critical roles in the legislation's advancement.
