The University at Buffalo has integrated eight new 40-foot battery-electric transit buses into its UB Stampede fleet. This fleet currently serves approximately 16 000 passengers on a daily basis. The project was executed in partnership with the transportation provider WeDriveU and the fleet electrification firm Zenobē.

To support the new vehicles, ten charging stations were installed at the WeDriveU customer service center located in Buffalo. These chargers provide the necessary infrastructure to maintain the daily operations of the electric bus fleet.

The university aims to achieve full electrification of its bus fleet by 2030. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to create a zero-emissions campus. The target date is set significantly earlier than the 2045 deadline mandated by New York Executive Order 22 for state-operated heavy-duty vehicles.
