The StablePair Hook, a new dynamic-fee mechanism from Uniswap Labs, launched on the Ethereum mainnet on September 10. Within five days, the USDC/USDT pool utilizing this technology became the highest-volume liquidity pool on the Ethereum network.
The mechanism adjusts trading fees based on price deviation from a reference rate. It functions similarly to a Dutch auction, where fees decay block by block as the price returns to equilibrium. Traders who move the price back to the reference rate pay no fees.
Uniswap Labs launched the hook with two initial pools: USDC/USDT and USDC/USDG. The protocol previously processed $43,4 billion in stablecoin swaps during the second quarter of 2026, outperforming the next three largest on-chain venues combined.
This development marks the first upgradeable dynamic-fee hook for Uniswap. While the protocol historically prioritized immutable contracts, these new pools are managed by Uniswap Labs and can be adjusted through the platform's governance protocol.
