Italian banking group UniCredit is currently exploring options to establish infrastructure for digital asset services. The organization is actively seeking a technology partner to facilitate the launch of crypto trading, custody solutions, and access to tokenized investment products.

According to reports, the bank is in the early stages of discussions regarding these capabilities. Key areas of interest include brokerage services, stablecoin-based fixed-income securities, and secure custody of digital assets.

The financial sector continues to show interest in digital asset infrastructure. For instance, U.S. Bank recently completed a cross-border payment using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered introduced spot Bitcoin and Ether trading for institutional clients in the UAE earlier in September 2026.

Other international institutions are also expanding their digital asset offerings. Israel-based Bank Leumi announced a partnership with Galaxy Digital in August to provide trading services for Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana, with a projected launch scheduled for early 2027.
