Italian banking group UniCredit is exploring the launch of new digital asset services, including brokerage and custody solutions. The bank is currently in the process of selecting a technology provider to support digital asset storage and transaction facilitation. While discussions are ongoing, no final decisions have been reached regarding the specific service offerings.

The bank is evaluating the potential for tokenized investment products, fixed-income securities, and stablecoin applications for its clients. These initiatives align with a wider trend among European financial institutions to integrate digital assets, supported by the regulatory clarity provided by the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework.

UniCredit has previously engaged with the digital asset sector by offering a structured product linked to the BlackRock iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF and issuing Italy’s first tokenized minibond on a public blockchain. The bank is also a participant in the Qivalis project, which focuses on the development of a euro-denominated stablecoin.

To further expand its digital capital markets capabilities, UniCredit recently acquired a minority stake in VC Trade, a German platform for lending markets. The bank continues to focus its digital asset efforts primarily on corporate clients and professional investors.
