A Reddit user known as TheQxx purchased an MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI motherboard on eBay for $20. The seller listed the item as faulty and intended for parts, prompting the buyer to acquire it for potential repair or component salvage.

Upon arrival, the user discovered the motherboard was packaged in a box belonging to an Asus Z790 Dark Hero. The package included a full set of accessories, which was unexpected for a listing marked as defective.

The buyer found a Western Digital SN580 2 TB NVMe SSD with a PCIe 4.0 interface installed in one of the M.2 slots. It appears the previous owner neglected to remove the storage drive before shipping the hardware.

Testing revealed that the motherboard was fully operational and successfully booted Windows from the discovered SSD. The user estimated the value of the SSD alone at approximately $300, significantly exceeding the initial purchase price.
