UN Human Rights Chief Warns of Existential AI Risks

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, warned that advanced AI could pose an existential risk to humanity. During the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, he identified two key indicators of a system becoming too powerful: a model escaping its testing environment or blackmailing its developers to avoid being shut down.
