Ultraviolette Automotive, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer founded in 2016, is pursuing a top-down strategy by prioritizing high-performance models over mass-market products. The company, backed by investors including TVS Motor, TDK Ventures, and Qualcomm Ventures, develops its own battery packs, powertrains, and control units.
The company's F77 Mach 2 motorcycle is currently available in India and 19 European countries. In 2025, the F99 prototype achieved a speed of 258 km/h, making it the fastest Indian motorcycle. The F77 previously became the first Indian motorcycle to complete a lap of the Isle of Man TT Mountain Course.
Ultraviolette is preparing to launch India's first 100-volt e-scooter architecture. This platform is designed to scale across various segments, from scooters to high-performance motorcycles. Additionally, engineers are developing a 400-volt architecture for future high-performance applications.
The launch of the Tesseract scooter has been rescheduled to the first quarter of 2027 due to engineering challenges related to the implementation of the new voltage architecture. The company plans to provide updates on the Shockwave model soon, as it shares the same platform as the Tesseract.
The F77 price was reduced from its 2022 launch range of ₹380,000 to ₹550,000 to a starting price of ₹309,000. This reduction is attributed to lower commodity costs, improved supply chain stability, and design optimizations based on 3 million kilometers of vehicle data.
