Indian startup Ultraviolette Automotive is launching a new production facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, with an initial annual capacity of 250,000 electric two-wheelers. The project, codenamed BIGGA, requires an investment of ₹7.79 billion, equivalent to approximately €70 million. The infrastructure design allows for future expansion to 500,000 units per year.

The new plant will focus on high-volume models, starting with the Tesseract electric scooter. This move aligns with broader market trends in India, where scooters represented 88.6 percent of the 1.2 million electric two-wheelers sold in 2025. The location in Hosur provides proximity to established suppliers like TVS Motor Company and Ather Energy.

Simultaneously, the company is investing ₹2 billion, or about €18 million, to upgrade its existing Bengaluru plant. This expansion will increase the site's annual capacity from 30,000 to 50,000 vehicles. The company currently produces the X-47 and F77 motorcycles, with the latter already available in 19 European countries.

Ultraviolette intends to introduce the Tesseract, the X-47, and the Shockwave enduro motorcycle to European markets. The startup is supported by investors including TDK Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, and TVS Motor Company, facilitating its transition from premium high-performance models to broader market segments.
