The UK Financial Conduct Authority has officially opened the application process for crypto firms seeking authorization under the new regulatory framework. The regime is scheduled to take effect on October 25, 2027, and introduces expanded oversight for the industry.

Companies currently operating in the United Kingdom must submit their applications by February 28, 2027. The regulator intends to review and decide on these submissions before the new rules become active. The framework covers stablecoin issuance, trading platforms, and market abuse.

Existing registrations under anti-money laundering regulations will not automatically convert into the new FCA authorization. Industry experts, including The Payments Association, emphasize that firms must undergo a fresh process to meet the updated standards.
