Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development (UBRiR) has upgraded its IT infrastructure by deploying a unified backup and disaster recovery system. The bank selected the Cyber Backup solution developed by the Russian company Cyberprotect to secure its data.

The implementation is part of the bank's digital transformation and import substitution strategy. As a critical information infrastructure entity, UBRiR aimed to replace foreign backup software to mitigate risks associated with the withdrawal of international vendors from the Russian market.

The IT team at UBRiR evaluated several domestic solutions based on functionality, licensing terms, and vendor expertise before choosing Cyber Backup. The system currently protects hundreds of terabytes of data, including databases, virtual machines, and core business applications.

Technical director Artur Novruzov stated that the new platform provides a centralized management tool for backups. The system is designed to support both existing foreign software stacks and new domestic platforms during the bank's ongoing migration process.
