The American Clean Power Association released a report indicating that clean energy deployment in the United States reached a record high during the first half of 2026. Current capacity is sufficient to provide power to 83 million homes.

The renewable energy sector added 17.1 GW of new capacity to the national grid over the last six months. Furthermore, clean energy procurement reached 14.5 GW, while the volume of purchase agreements hit an all-time high.

A separate report from the United Nations Environment Programme suggests that global nations are currently missing the targets established by the 2015 Paris Agreement. The document urges countries to accelerate the deployment of clean energy to mitigate environmental damage.

Patrick Drupp, Climate Policy Director at the Sierra Club, stated that the renewable energy industry continues to expand in the United States. He noted that the sector remains a key solution for providing affordable and reliable power to households across the country.
