The Vietnamese public transport operator Transerco has introduced 53 electric buses in Hanoi, replacing diesel vehicles on four city routes. The deployment was carried out by two operating units, Cau Buou Bus Enterprise and Southern Hanoi Passenger Bus Enterprise, which launched the new fleet on 6 October.
The fleet consists of VinFast EB 8 models, each with a capacity for 60 passengers. The buses feature 24 seats, space for one wheelchair, and room for 34 standing passengers. The vehicles are 8.6 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 3.2 meters high, decorated with Hanoibus branding and local symbols.
Technically, the EB 8 is equipped with a 200 kW electric motor and a 359 kWh LFP battery. The system supports DC fast-charging up to 120 kW via a CCS2 connector. The bus reaches a maximum speed of 80 kph and provides a range of over 290 kilometers on a single charge.
Hanoi has set a goal to transition all public buses to electric or green-energy models by 2030. The city specifically intends to complete the full electrification of its bus network within the central urban area inside Ring Road 4.
