Toyota has officially denied reports suggesting further delays for its upcoming three-row electric SUV, the Highlander EV. A company spokesperson confirmed that the launch schedule remains set for 2027, consistent with the announcement made in July.

Initial plans for the Highlander EV included a production start at the Toyota plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, during the second half of 2026. Reports from Nikkei had suggested a shift to 2027 or later, but the manufacturer maintains its previous timeline.

The electric Highlander will be available in Limited and XLE trims with front- or all-wheel-drive options. Customers can choose between two battery capacities: 77 kWh, offering up to 287 miles of range, or 95.8 kWh, providing up to 320 miles.

The vehicle features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Production of the Subaru Getaway, which shares the TNGA-K EV platform, is also planned for the Kentucky facility.

While the EV variant faces scheduling scrutiny, Toyota continues to sell gas and hybrid versions of the Highlander. Meanwhile, the updated bZ model saw a 90% sales increase in the first half of 2026, becoming the fourth most popular EV in the US.
