Toyota has announced a safety recall for approximately 10,000 units of its 2026 C-HR electric SUV in North America. The action follows reports of a potential loss of power while the vehicle is in motion.

The technical issue is linked to a software glitch within the regenerative braking system. When the battery is at a high charge level, the system may overcharge it, causing the electric drive system to shut down unexpectedly.

To resolve the problem, owners are advised to visit a Toyota dealership to have the battery electronic control unit software updated. The company plans to notify affected owners starting in early November 2026.

The recall is limited exclusively to the 2026 model year of the C-HR EV. Owners can verify if their specific vehicle is included by visiting the official Toyota recall website or contacting the company directly.
