Toyota is preparing to enter the EREV market in China, with production scheduled to begin in April 2027. The company plans to start with a modest output of several hundred vehicles per month before scaling up operations significantly.
The manufacturer has set a production target of 200,000 vehicles for 2027, aiming to double this figure to 400,000 units by 2028. These vehicles will feature a combination of an electric motor, a battery, and a small internal combustion engine for power generation.
Despite a recent decline in EREV sales across the Chinese market during the first half of the year, Toyota intends to integrate this technology into its electrified vehicle portfolio. The pricing for these new models is expected to align with the company's existing plug-in hybrid offerings.
