TotalEnergies Public Charging and Velian won a regional concession to manage public charging infrastructure across 43 municipalities in the Dutch provinces of South Holland and Zeeland. The contract covers thousands of charging points, excluding the cities of The Hague and Rotterdam.

TotalEnergies secured 60 percent of the tendered infrastructure, which includes acquiring and modernizing approximately 1,860 existing stations. The company plans to install thousands of additional units in the coming years to support rising demand for electric mobility.

Velian, formerly known as Equans Infra & Mobility and currently owned by Aberdeen Investments and DigitalBridge, will manage the remaining 40 percent of the network. The provinces expect this partnership to result in lower charging prices for electric vehicle drivers.

New stations will feature digital displays showing real-time costs, allowing users to check tariffs before, during, and after charging. Drivers will be able to pay via contactless bank cards or smartphones, eliminating the mandatory need for specific charging cards or QR codes.

The project introduces smart charging and dynamic pricing to manage grid load. Charging speeds will adjust based on grid capacity, and users may benefit from lower rates during periods of high electricity availability.
