Austin-based Tiny Health has secured $33 million in a Series B funding round led by B Capital. This latest investment brings the company’s total funding to $46 million, following a $4.5 million seed round in 2021 and a $8.5 million Series A in 2023.

The startup, founded in 2020 by Cheryl Sew Hoy, provides at-home microbiome tests using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. While initially focused on infant gut health, the company has expanded its offerings to include pregnancy, vaginal, and adult testing, with adults now representing its largest segment.

Tiny Health reports that its overall revenue has more than doubled annually, while its B2B division, Powered by Tiny, experienced fourfold growth last year. The company currently serves over 6,000 healthcare practitioners and partners with organizations such as the Mayo Clinic and Fullscript.

The company has collected nearly 200,000 microbiome samples to date. It is currently developing a tool called TinyAI to analyze this data and is committing $5 million to a program that provides researchers and clinical partners with access to its testing platform and data.

With a current headcount of approximately 40 employees, Tiny Health plans to hire 30 additional staff members. The new capital will be used to expand its B2B operations, enhance clinician training, and fund further research into the impact of microbiome-guided interventions on health outcomes.
