TikTok has reached a settlement with the state of Alabama, agreeing to pay a minimum of $100 million. The agreement follows allegations that the platform misled users regarding safety and utilized design features intended to addict children. The case was resolved shortly before the scheduled trial date.

According to the Alabama attorney general’s office, the total payout could reach $300 million depending on specific conditions. As part of the settlement, TikTok will implement a two-hour daily time limit for underage users and introduce new parental controls. The company will also restrict overnight usage and the availability of certain cosmetic filters.

This settlement follows a separate agreement reached in August, where TikTok committed to pay $400 million to the Department of Justice. That case involved allegations that the platform violated child privacy laws. The company stated that these measures align with its ongoing efforts to enhance safety tools for teenage users.
