The Tianmushan No. 9 tethered rescue drone platform was unveiled on September 19 at the Beihang Hangzhou International Campus. Developed by the Tianmushan Laboratory and Tianxun Innovation, the system is designed for high-rise emergency operations where traditional fire trucks cannot reach. It features a mobile vehicle-mounted unit that provides continuous ground-based power supply.
The platform is capable of reaching altitudes of up to 100 meters. During a simulated rescue exercise, the drone successfully transported three adults from a rooftop. The system includes a rescue robotic dog equipped with AI algorithms to navigate fire zones, as well as modular transport and command components. The design emphasizes rapid deployment and sustained operation.
Engineers have successfully implemented an 800V high-voltage power supply system, which was identified as a critical engineering challenge. As of July 2026, six major components, including flight control, power supply, and structural design, have been completed. The team is currently focusing on wall-proximity and eccentric load testing to refine the platform's capabilities.
Future development plans involve closer collaboration with emergency management departments and fire rescue teams to accelerate mass production and system upgrades. The Tianmushan Laboratory, established in June 2022 and managed by Beihang University, continues to oversee the project's integration and testing phases to ensure operational readiness for real-world scenarios.
