Information regarding the third-generation Xbox Elite controller emerged from the Microsoft Xbox Design Lab backend API. Although the original data source is no longer accessible, reports indicate that the new hardware will feature Hall-effect and TMR joystick modules with adjustable tension settings, including standard, loose, and tight options.
The controller introduces a dual-motor haptic feedback system. It combines traditional ERM motors for pulse triggers with VCA actuators for advanced haptic effects, aiming to provide a tactile experience similar to PlayStation controllers. Additionally, a dedicated scroll wheel for audio control will allow users to adjust volume and chat mix settings quickly.
Customization remains a core focus, with the device offering various directional pad designs, including standard, cross-shaped, and anti-slip options. The rear paddles will be available in multiple configurations, such as butterfly, short, and long styles. Users can choose from 27 different mapping combinations for buttons and caps.
The physical design of the controller supports further personalization through metallic finishes, custom naming, color variations, and laser engraving. While these specifications were extracted from official API data, they remain subject to change until Microsoft provides an official announcement.
