The Vault, a digital asset custody platform regulated in Switzerland and the EU, has introduced its own multi-party computation library. The company presented the technology at the European Blockchain Convention in Barcelona on 17 September 2026.
The library enables a co-signing model where no single party can authorize a transfer independently. Unlike most providers that license external components, The Vault developed its solution in-house using the Rust programming language to maintain full control over security updates.
Blockchain security firm Halborn conducted an independent audit of the library, covering 91 files across the cryptographic core, test suite, and mobile applications for iOS and Android. The final report confirmed that all identified findings were remediated and verified by August 2026.
The implementation supports distributed key generation, resharing, recovery, and threshold ECDSA and EdDSA signing. The company plans to publish the library as open source and is currently developing threshold variants of the post-quantum signature scheme ML-DSA and a new PAKE protocol.
