Disney owns a vast portfolio including Disney+, Hulu, ABC, FX, and ESPN, making it difficult for consumers to boycott the company entirely. The conglomerate also controls various franchises such as Avatar, Alien, Predator, and Die Hard.

In January 2025, Disney acquired Fubo, effectively ending an antitrust lawsuit. Fubo had previously accused Disney, Fox, and WBD of stifling competition in sports streaming. Following a separate contract dispute with NBCUniversal, Fubo raised monthly subscription prices by $15.

The streaming industry is seeing increased consolidation to reach profitability. WBD and Skydance Paramount are planning a merger that would combine HBO Max, Discovery+, CNN, Paramount+, and Pluto TV under one owner.

Fox has announced plans to acquire Roku. This merger would consolidate their respective free ad-supported streaming services, Tubi and The Roku Channel, potentially reducing diversity in content and programming options for viewers.
