Tether has secured support from 15 industry participants for its open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK). The group includes ASIC manufacturers, mining pool operators, and farm managers who have committed to building and maintaining integrations for the framework.

The MDK is designed to improve interoperability across diverse mining hardware and software. It consists of a JavaScript SDK, React UI components, and a central orchestration kernel. The kit aims to facilitate AI-powered automation in mining operations.

Tether initially launched the MDK on April 27, 2026, following the release of its MiningOS in February 2026. At the Plan B Forum in Lugano held on October 23-24, 2026, the company introduced version 0.11 of the toolkit.

The company currently utilizes its QVAC mining agent on the MDK as a demonstration of AI systems interacting with various mining setups. CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that the kit is intended to support the transition toward autonomous agents in the industry.
