Tether has provided approximately $1.5 billion in financing to the US precious metals dealer Gold.com Inc. This arrangement makes the stablecoin issuer the primary creditor for the dealer, which holds $1.7 billion in outstanding metal leases. Tether expects to receive about $1.45 billion in advances and payables from the company by June 30, 2026.
This lending deal follows a strategic investment of $150 million in Gold.com, which was announced on February 5, 2026. Beyond financing, Tether continues to acquire physical gold at a rate of one to two metric tons weekly. As of early 2026, the company accumulated a stockpile of approximately 140 metric tons, stored primarily in a Swiss vault.
The current market value of Tether's gold reserves is estimated between $20 billion and $24 billion. In 2025, the company's gold acquisition pace surpassed that of most global central banks, trailing only Poland. These assets support the USDT stablecoin reserves and back the XAUT token, where each unit represents one troy ounce of LBMA-standard gold.
