Tesla has officially commenced new deliveries of its Semi electric trucks from a dedicated manufacturing facility in Nevada. The company showcased vehicles featuring branding from PepsiCo, DHL, and US Foods during a presentation in Sparks, Nevada. Despite the launch, Tesla has not disclosed current production rates, pricing, or specific annual delivery targets.
The Semi is available in two configurations, offering ranges of 325 miles and 500 miles. According to Tesla, the vehicle consumes 1.7 kWh per mile. While the company maintains a long-term goal of reaching an annual production capacity of 50 000 units, it has not provided a timeline for achieving this volume at the new factory.
Market demand for the truck remains active. A coalition of shippers placed an order for 2 500 units this week, and freight technology firm Einride recently announced plans to incorporate 500 Semis into its operations. These deliveries follow the initial rollout to PepsiCo, which began in late 2022.
