Tesla has opened its fast-charging stations at state-owned rest areas along the Massachusetts Turnpike and I-95 to electric vehicles from other manufacturers. This change follows an amended agreement between Tesla and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

The policy shift occurred after the operator Applegreen failed to upgrade 17 state rest stops with new fast-charging infrastructure as previously planned. The new arrangement effectively doubles the number of charging ports available to non-Tesla drivers at these locations.

There are now 32 fast-charging ports accessible to all electric vehicle brands at these state-owned highway rest stops. Drivers of non-Tesla vehicles can utilize these stations by using a NACS adapter and the Tesla mobile application.
