Tesla will manage public Megacharger sites at three new electric truck depots owned by Forum Mobility in California. These locations include FM Francis in Ontario, as well as FM Adeline and FM Coliseum in Oakland. A fourth site, FM Santa Fe in Rancho Dominguez, will also support over 330 Tesla Semis.
The depots feature pull-through lanes and combine the Megawatt Charging System with CCS ports. According to Forum Mobility, the MCS chargers can provide up to 60% of range in approximately 30 minutes. The hardware supports the MCS 3.2 standard, allowing it to charge trucks from other manufacturers like Volvo, Daimler, and Scania.
This partnership model allows Tesla to operate charging services without managing real estate. Tesla sells the Megacharger hardware for $188 000 and earns $0.08 per kWh on third-party sites. Forum Mobility currently operates or is building over 40 MW of charging capacity and serves 25 carrier customers.
Forum Mobility plans to expand its network to locations including Las Vegas, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Tacoma, and Chicago. The company has already installed two Tesla MCS Megachargers at its FM Harbor depot in the Port of Long Beach, which has been operational since December 2024 with 44 CCS ports and 9 MW of capacity.
