Tesla has updated the side-view cameras on the Cybertruck, introducing a new housing design that improves lens cleanliness. Chief engineer Wes Morrill confirmed that the update utilizes passive aerodynamics to divert rainwater and road spray away from the lenses during vehicle operation.
The new design features a molded plastic housing with integrated ribs and a sharp vertical fin. This structure disrupts airflow along the front fender, preventing water and debris from accumulating on the glass. Unlike the front bumper camera, the side cameras do not use liquid cleaning systems.
Tesla implements hardware changes as soon as existing inventory is depleted. This follows a recent upgrade to the Cybertruck chassis, where stamped aluminum panels were replaced with carbon fiber composite trays to enhance durability during off-road use.
In addition to hardware refinements, Tesla recently increased the starting price for all dual-motor Cybertruck models by $5,000. The base price for these vehicles is now $74,990.
