Tesla has updated the Model YL owner manual, reducing several vehicle dimensions by 3-4 mm. The total height of the vehicle was lowered from 1668 mm to 1664 mm. Additionally, the ground clearance for the loaded vehicle decreased from 122 mm to 118 mm, while the unloaded ground clearance was adjusted from 169 mm to 166 mm.
These changes follow reports from multiple Tesla owners regarding rear wheel suspension issues. Users noted that the gap between the rear wheel arch and the tire significantly decreased after long-distance driving, raising concerns about vehicle stability and safety. Some owners reported that the problem persisted even after replacing the springs at service centers.
Tesla has not provided an official statement regarding the suspension concerns or the manual updates. Customer support representatives stated they have not received any internal notifications or information regarding these changes. Owners expressed concern that the updated specifications might impact future warranty claims and the criteria used to diagnose suspension defects.
