Tencent is reportedly developing a new personal agent application called Yuanbao Assistant. The company intends to launch this as a standalone app, separate from the primary Yuanbao platform, to provide dedicated space and permissions for managing long-term tasks and personal memory functions.
The original Tencent Yuanbao AI assistant, powered by the proprietary Hunyuan large language model, was launched on May 30, 2024. It currently supports voice and text search across WeChat public accounts and video channels, as well as document processing for formats including PDF, Word, PPT, Excel, and TXT.
The broader market for personal AI assistants is seeing increased activity from major Chinese technology firms. Reports from September 29 indicate that the Doubao team is working on a project codenamed Spell. This initiative, currently in internal testing, involves a standalone application named Xiaodou.
