The iPhone 18 Pro features the new A20 Pro chip, built on a 2 nm process node. It includes a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine designed for local AI tasks. The device also utilizes a wider memory interface, providing 50 percent more bandwidth compared to its predecessor.
Apple has redesigned the internal architecture to improve heat management. The system-on-a-chip is now placed next to the memory, and the device incorporates a larger vapor chamber along with a copper display plate. These changes promise up to 40 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro and up to 100 percent improvement over the iPhone 16 Pro.
The display now features a smaller Dynamic Island, achieved by relocating the infrared camera beneath the OLED panel. This design allows for the display of up to three live activities simultaneously. Additionally, the phone includes a proprietary C2 cellular modem, which is more energy-efficient than the previous Qualcomm hardware.
Battery life has been extended to 36 hours of offline video playback, compared to 33 hours in the previous model. The device supports wireless charging at speeds up to 25 W. The camera system retains the triple-48 MP rear configuration and an 18 MP front-facing camera, now supplemented by a new variable aperture feature and Photographic Styles 3.
