OpenAI is collaborating with competitors Anthropic and Google DeepMind to develop safety protocols for artificial intelligence. According to Chris Lehane, OpenAI's head of global policy, the companies have been in discussions regarding these security measures for several weeks.

Lehane stated that such coordination does not require antitrust exemptions, drawing a parallel to the aviation industry where companies frequently cooperate to enhance safety standards. The initiative aims to address growing concerns in the United States regarding the potential economic and national security risks posed by AI.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently published a 3,800-word essay advocating for a slower development pace for advanced AI systems to better understand potential threats. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX AI lead Elon Musk have publicly expressed support for Amodei's position.

During a visit to Washington, Lehane announced plans to meet with US lawmakers. He confirmed that OpenAI is prepared to support bipartisan legislative proposals designed to mitigate catastrophic risks associated with artificial intelligence.
