TDK has expanded its CN series of soft-termination multilayer ceramic capacitors with a new 100 V, 10 μF model. The component features a 3225 case size, measuring 3.2 x 2.5 x 2.5 mm. The company states this is the highest capacitance currently available at 100 V for this specific form factor.

The CN series utilizes a conductive resin layer to protect the ceramic element from board flex and external stress. TDK optimized the resin electrode structure to maintain equivalent series resistance levels comparable to standard-termination parts. This design allows for twice the capacitance of previous models in the same size.

These capacitors are designed for smoothing and decoupling on 48 V power lines in industrial equipment and electrified vehicles. The 100 V rating provides a safety margin for bus voltage, while the higher capacitance helps manage ripple from switching stages and supports load steps.

The components meet AEC-Q200 standards for automotive applications. TDK plans to begin mass production of the new capacitors in September 2026.
