Tata Electronics and Fujifilm have signed a memorandum of understanding to localize the semiconductor supply chain in India. This partnership supports Tata’s ongoing fabrication projects, which include a 300-mm front-end plant in Dholera and a back-end facility in Jagiroad. The total investment for Tata’s fabrication ambitions is estimated at $11 billion.

Fujifilm plans to invest approximately $83 million, or 800 crore rupees, to construct a new manufacturing plant in India. The facility will produce critical materials such as photoresists and CMP slurries. Construction is scheduled to commence in October 2026, with the goal of reaching commercial production by the 2028 fiscal year.

The initiative aligns with the second iteration of the India Semiconductor Mission, a government program aimed at reducing import reliance. Tata Electronics CEO Randhir Thakur also announced plans to sign 16 additional agreements to further strengthen the local supply chain. The output from these fabs is intended for the automotive, industrial, and telecommunications sectors.
