Customs officials at Tashkent International Airport intercepted 14 smartphones smuggled from Dubai between September 20 and 22. Three passengers attempted to bring in eight iPhone 18 units and six iPhone 17 units without declaring them in their customs documents.

The total value of the seized devices is estimated at UZS 227 million. According to local regulations, individuals are permitted to import a maximum of two mobile devices for personal use, provided they are declared for registration in the UZIMEI system.

Exceeding the duty-free import limit triggers a 30% customs payment on the excess amount. If devices are smuggled, the payment is calculated based on the full value of the goods. Since the start of 2026, authorities have seized 162 devices worth UZS 7,8 billion.
