Russian mobile operator T2 has deployed a 5G network covering the Kremlin and Red Square. The infrastructure upgrade involved installing equipment on 11 existing sites located around the perimeter of these landmarks to avoid adding new structures in the dense urban area.

The network provides peak speeds of up to 800 Mbps and reduced signal latency. These technical improvements are designed to support modern media services, video broadcasting systems, and interactive digital guides for visitors, journalists, and staff.

Access to the 5G service is available to all T2 subscribers using compatible smartphones. According to Alexey Dmitriev, Deputy General Director for Technical Infrastructure at T2, the company prioritized high-traffic tourist areas to demonstrate the capabilities of the new standard.

Beyond the Kremlin and Red Square, T2 has expanded its 5G coverage to several other prominent locations in Moscow. These include Zaryadye Park, Luzhniki, Moscow State University, the Tretyakov Gallery, Vorobyovy Gory, VDNKh, and the Old Arbat.
