Mobile operator T2 is currently in discussions with Apple regarding the activation of 5G support for users in Russia. The company stated that the lack of authorization for Russian networks affects smartphone adoption and that they are working to resolve the issue for local customers.

Other major market players have also addressed the situation. MTS expressed support for Russian government initiatives aimed at ensuring 5G connectivity across all subscriber devices, noting that the absence of this technology on foreign smartphones impacts their competitiveness.

Meanwhile, Beeline has declined to comment on any ongoing negotiations with the vendor. Additionally, the Russian Ministry of Digital Development is separately engaging with Apple to discuss the possibility of enabling 5G functionality for iPhones operating within the country.

As of September 18, 2026, official sales of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have commenced in first-wave countries. In Russia, users of these new models face limitations, with at least 18 features and services currently unavailable.
