German utility company SWK Energie has introduced a specialized electricity tariff called meinGAMING, designed for households with high power consumption from gaming PCs and consoles. The plan offers three tiers based on weekly usage: Casual Gamer for 10+ hours, Pro Gamer for 30+ hours, and Gaming Households for 50+ hours of activity.
The tariff structure features higher fixed monthly fees combined with a lower price per kilowatt-hour. The annual consumption thresholds are set at 2,500 kWh for casual users, 3,500 kWh for pros, and 5,000 kWh for multi-user households. SWK Energie guarantees these rates for up to 24 months to protect customers from energy market volatility.
The company notes that all electricity provided under this plan is sourced from renewable energy. While marketed specifically to gamers, the service functions as a differentiated pricing model for high-consumption homes. Analysts suggest that as hardware power requirements rise, such targeted energy services may become more common in the utility sector.
